ONE of the stars of the blockbuster film series the Twilight Saga turned up at Uxbridge College to present its media studies students with their end of year awards.

MyAnna Buring, who plays Tanya in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and will also be in Part 2, congratulated the students on their achievements in writing, directing, acting and production.

The students are on A-level courses in Media Studies in The Academy, Uxbridge College's Sixth Form Centre, and their short films will form part of their coursework.

The Swedish-born actress has also recently appeared in BBC2's series White Heat alongside Brit stars including Lindsay Duncan, Juliet Stevenson and Michael Kitchen, and has been filming The Fuse with Christopher Eccleston for BBC1.

Laurie Tallack, media lecturer, said: "Our students have produced some excellent work this year demonstrating a high level of technical and creative skill. In particular, they have used the industry standard editing software Final Cut Pro series 7, which will stand them in good stead in the job market.

"It was really inspiring for them to meet MyAnna, particularly as she has so much experience as an actor that she definitely knows a good film from a bad one."

The actress presented the Academy Award-inspired statuettes to the students on May 16.
