A MAN who drove a large goods or passenger carrying vehicle while four times over the alcohol limit has been sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years.
James McKenna, 29, of Butler Street, Uxbridge, was also banned from the road for four years after causing an accident when he failed to stop and drove the wrong way along the Stockley Bypass on January 11 this year.
He will be supervised for two years and must have treatment for alcohol dependency, as well as attending a drink impaired drivers programme for two weeks. He was also ordered to pay £70 costs.
A COUPLE who have been together since they were just out of their teenage years are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
The happy couple are Margaret and Arthur White, of St Paul Close, Uxbridge.
To celebrate their landmark diamond anniversary, the couple will be setting off on a Caribbean cruise this Saturday.
Margaret is 80 and husband Arthur is 78.
Margaret said: "We got married very young, we were just into our 20s.
"I used to work in a small food store, not like the supermarkets you have nowadays."
Arthur used to work in housing for for the London Borough of Hillingdon.
Margaret added: "Both of the jobs have changed so much, neither of us would want to work in the industries now."

Chad died on Saturday after suffering fatal injuries during an accident in Cleveland Road, Uxbridge on Friday.
Police are still piecing together the exact circumstances of the collision, but it is believed a speed bump could have casued the accident.
Chad was overtaking a stationary U3 bus outside Brunel University, when the speed bump next to the bus stop caused him to lose control.

NEIGHBOURS have expressed their displeasure at overbearing plans to build flats in a back garden in an already heavily populated area.
New plans have been submitted for an area of land backing onto Peachey Lane, Cowley, which also backs onto Bosanquet Close.
There are in fact two separate planning applications, one for a block of two bedroom flats, and another for a block of four bedroom flats.
THE 18 year old victim of a tragic motorcycle collision has been named as Chad Stickley.
Chad, of Rockingham Close, Uxbridge, attended Mellow Lane School, in Hewens Road, Hayes.
He leaves behind two siblings, Miles and Lara.
Police are still appealing for witnesses to come forward who may have seen the accident on Friday at 10.55am.
Sergeant Dave Tanner of the collision investigation unit, said: "We believe we have CCTV which will show us what happened, but we still need witnesses to come forward.
"There are no outstanding vehicles we have to trace, but we still have a lot of work to do."
Dawn Stickley, Chad's mother, said: "He was a very popular boy, hundreds of people have joined a Facebook page set up in his honour already."

POLICE had to rescue a stranded swan after it got lost on a busy building site.
Several members of the public called the police after seeing large lorries swerving to avoid the bird.
The swan was spotted flapping around on an area near to the Post Office, on Cowley Mill Road, Uxbridge, on Friday.
A TEENAGE motorcyclist who was involved in a collision on Friday has died from his injuries in hospital.
The 18 year old came off his Honda 125cc after he was in collision with a car in Cleveland Road, Uxbridge, outside the grounds of Brunel University.
It is believed he was attempting to pass a stationary bus on the narrow road shortly before the collision.
The 18 year old, who at this stage has not been named, was airlifted to the Royal Free Hospital in central London after the incident at 10.55am on Friday.
He suffered multiple injuries in the crash, including head injuries, and on Friday night his condition was critical, and he was in intensive care.
Sadly, on Saturday morning, he died from his injuries.
He is believed to live nearby in Uxbridge, and his next of kin have been informed.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Sergeant Dave Tanner, of the collision investigation unit, said: "This is a tragic incident, I appeal for any witnesses - whether pedestrians or road users - to come forward and call our witness line on 020-8998 5319."
AN AIR ambulance was called urgently to take an injured motorcyclist to hospital.
The ambulance touched down in the car park at Brunel University, Kingston Lane, Uxbridge this morning (Friday)
The motorcyclist is believed to have been in collision with a car at Cleveland Road, outside the pond at the front of the University.
The accident happened at 10.55am.
Ted Page, who lives on Cleveland Road, said: "It seems like a serious accident, the road is shut off, it looks really bad.
"The motorbike is smashed to pieces, police are out there now marking it off."
1.45pm update: The London Ambulance Service confirmed a teenage motorcyclist has been taken to the Royal Free Hospital
