Floating goat mystery in Grand Union Canal

Posted by Dan Coombs on Dec 7, 09 03:04 PM in Useful Info

IT IS usually boats and not goats which are spotted in the canal, so one dog walker had the shock of her life when she saw a dead animal in there on Sunday.

Jay Burgin, 65, of Cowley Mill Road, Uxbridge, was walking her dog along by the Grand Union Canal near Culvert Lane on Sunday, when she spotted the animal.

Worried it might be somebody's pet, she attempted to rescue it, but was unable to, and phoned Hillingdon Council and asked them to remove it.

Mrs Burgin said: "It seems so sad, to see the body of a dead goat in a canal.

"If it was my pet I would like to know what happened to it, may be it got swept in there by flooding."

The goat was described as white and brown, fairly young and well built, with long brown ears.
