A COUPLE who repeatedly disturbed neighbours by playing loud music have been ordered to pay almost £2,000.

Elizabeth Witter and Lucan Wallace, both of Waterloo Road, Uxbridge, were found guilty of being a noise nuisance following a trial at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Friday (27).

Neighbours complained to Hillingdon Council's noise team about loud, amplified American rap-style music on January 25 this year.

PUPILS from Uxbridge College who took part in a national business competition have been recognised for their financial skills.

The team of four students on the BTEC National Diploma in Business competed against nine teams from across the capital in the London regional finals of the Make Your Mark Challenge.

They were given the Financial Whizz Award at a ceremony in London last Thursday (26), after coming up with an idea for a talent agency called Talent 'iN' Town (TNT) which would showcase local talent in and around Hillingdon.

SOLDIER'S charity Help For Heroes will be touching down in Uxbridge for one weekend only when it opens its first high street shop.
The shop, which will be located at 16 Windsor Street, will sell official merchandise that is usually only available online including Christmas cards, hats, t-shirts and much more. Customers will also have the chance to meet some of the servicemen and women who have served on the front line.
The shop will be open on December 5 from 9am - 5pm, and on December 6 from 11am - 5pm. For more information, visit www.helpforheroes.org.uk.

dancombs-blog.jpg'Win at all costs' was the mantra adopted by France last night, with Henry's handball sending France to South Africa next summer.

But now, his reputation is in tatters, there is one thing worse than a dirty player, and that is a cheat.

Now amended plans have been resubmitted to demolish the pub, and this time build houses on its site.rocki.jpg

tube-285399416.jpgAN ABUSIVE plumber has been fined for disorderly behaviour at Uxbridge tube station.

On 6 May this year, at 8.15am Samuel Papa-Kyriacou tried to exit Uxbridge tube station, but was unable to because he only had an 'off-peak' travelcard.

He was directed by staff to the assistance window but he returned shortly afterwards and tried to force his way through the manual gate, without any luck.

dancombs-blog.jpgWHY there are no winners in the World Cup Playoff draw...

Well technically speaking there will be four, but whatever happens in the Ireland/France and Portugal/Bosnia games tomorrow night, the World Cup will be poorer.

Ireland's three most previous World Cup adventures, in 1990,1994 and 2002 were full of action, on and off the pitch.

GET ready to don your skates and do your best impressions of Torvill and Dean as Hillingdon's very own ice rink opens to the public for a second year.

The rink, outside the civic centre in High Street, Uxbridge, will open from next Friday (27) until January 3, 2010.

Last year, more than 13,000 people of all ages visited the rink during the festive period.

Councillor Henry Higgins, cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure, said: "The ice was a great success last year and proved popular with residents and visitors alike.

"People came from across the borough and beyond to enjoy the ice rink and we look forward to hopefully welcoming even more people this year to enjoy it again."

Bookings for the ice rink can be made from today (16) through the Beck Theatre box office on 020 8561 8371.

On the day sales will be available at the ice rink from November 27.
