Stan Laurel statue is returned to pub
A STATUE of Stan Laurel that was stolen from a pub has been returned.
The 6ft 6ins figurine of Laurel was stolen from The Vine Inn, in Hillingdon Hill, Uxbridge, on Saturday (17).
The pub's landlady, Noreen Murphy, contact the Gazette on Monday (19) to put a story in about the theft.
However, the news obviously got back to the thief and Laurel was returned last night (20).
Mrs Murphy said: "One of the girls who was at the party on Saturday night came into the pub yesterdayand I told her the story was going in the paper.
"I also told her I had CCTV footage of the theft, but if Laurel was returned I wouldn't take the matter any further. If not we were going to name and shame them.
"So, at 8pm last night this guy turned up with Stan begging for forgiveness.
"Just the though of it going in the paper was enough for them to bring it back.
"We are delighted to have him back, but he is a bit bruised and battered."
We'd like to hear from you. Send your stories, pics and videos
