Uxbridge High teachers mix with sporting superstars

TEACHERS coaching potential sporting superstars of the future met a cast-iron NBA superstar of the present at a sports award ceremony last week.

The PE department from Uxbridge High School, in The Greenway, Uxbridge, met Chicago Bull's basketball player Luol Deng at the London Youth Games Awards evening.

Laura Jones, the head of girls PE at the school, and her fencing team were nominated for the Community Partner of the Year Award.

Although the award went to the London Gymnastic Federation, Uxbridge High School, were really proud to be the only individual school named and nominated during the whole evening.

Ms Jones introduced fencing to students at Uxbridge High and the school's club is now thriving.

In addition to meeting Luol Deng, the teachers also mixed it with Olympians Linford Christie and Christine Ohuruogu.

We'd like to hear from you.
