Taxi drivers and disabled groups meet with MP

Posted by Dan Coombs on Aug 25, 09 03:14 PM in Local Authority

TAXI drivers and disabled groups are still not happy at the decision to move the taxir ank to the top of Windsor Street.

Last month the taxi rank was moved from its previous site in Bakers Road to the top of Windsor Street, removing vital disabled bays.

While disabled bays are still present in Belmont Road and the various town centre car parks, the Windsor Street ones were prime position for the High Street, and Age Concern are among a number of groups to register their disapproval.

The taxi drivers also met with the Public Carriage Office and MP John Randall last week to discuss their grievances and are now planning how to take the matter further.

We'd like to hear from you.
