Suicide attempt at Grainges car park
AN AIR ambulance has been called out after a man jumped from the Grainges Car park in Uxbridge.
The man jumped over 50ft to the hard ground below the car park near Mahjacks Roundabout at around 5.30pm (Wednesday).
Stunned onlookers and office workers on their way home witnessed the incident, and police have cordoned off the scene.
An eyewitness said: "It was horrible, I've seen some bad things but never somebody trying to commit suicide, there was blood everywhere."
The man is believed to be in his late 30s or 40s and the air ambulance as well as rapid response vehicles are still at the scene. (6.05pm)
Only last year a woman committed suicide by jumping off the same building.

I did not see the incident but the way the incident was handled by pavillions staff was utterly appalling. Three cleaners told on-lookers to step back from the balcony so we did not the body being taken to the air ambulance. The cleaners proceded to do what we had just been told not to by hanging over the edge watching the chaos below. The incident caused chaos to traffic and bus routes. The police handled the situation well and I would like to praise them for their effiency in getting traffic flowing again.
I walked out from being in the pavillions after hearing a woman on the phone saying someone jumped off.
his legs were mangled but there was no blood and his face was slowly turning blue.
there was only a bit of blood once the ambulance arrived.
pavillions staff did well to be fair. got the the scene quick. and handled it well.
he landed on the grass not the pavement.
he jumped from the 4th spiral up on the car park ramp.
surely it would have made sense to go from the top.
13/08/09 10am Update:
A SUICIDE jumper who leapt from the fourth level of the Grainges Car park in Uxbridge survived the fall and is currently being treated in hospital.
An air ambulance was called to the scene of the incident at Oxford Road last night (Wednesday) at 5.20pm, which left dozens of onlookers shocked at his horrific injuries.
The man is believed to be in in his 30s and was flown to the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, where he is said to be in a 'serious condition'.
In addition to the air ambulance, two ambulances and two single response cars also attended the scene, which police cordoned off, disrupting traffic and bus routes at a busy rush hour.
Let's get this right. I was the first person on scene having seen the men fall as I passed in my car. There was not much blood despite what other people said. I phoned the ambulance and attended to the man with another passer by who was calm and composed. We both doubted whether he was alive as he did not have a pulse , however we arenot doctors and cannot make that decission. The staff of the shopping center handled things very well and teh Police and ambulance werer on the scene in under 10 minutes from when he fell.
I saw the man laying on the grass when I was driving home from work.
I think it is about time something was done to prevent this happening again, as this is not the first time and won't be the last.
surely some sort of fencing should be put up!
I did not see the incident but, the woman who committed suicide from the same building only a year ago is my sister Carole. This news deeply affected me and even more so my sister's daughter Sarah. It has brought back the horrible memories from my sister's tragedy and we hope this man will be ok and we are thinking about his family. We are hoping that he has no connection to Riverside Centre (mental health facility) in Hillingdon. My sister was a patient there and few weeks before her death another woman attempted suicide from that same building who was also a patient at Riverside, she survived. The odd thing is my sister committed suicide April 12th 2008, this man attempted August 12th 2009.

It brought back horrible memories of my sister's terrible tragedy which we are still trying to cope with. We hope the man is going to be ok and we are thinking about his family. We are also hoping this man had nothing to do with Riverside Centre (mental health facility)in Hillingdon where my sister was a patient, another woman attempted suicide from the same building who was also a patient at Riverside she survived. I am writing to offer my support to the family of the man that jumped of the grainges car park. On the 12th April 2008, my mother Carole Ann Mahoney, Aged 44 jumped of the same car park but did not survive.I know how this man's family is feeling, so my heart goes out to him and his family.

A MAN who leapt from the fourth floor of a car park has died in hospital of his injuries.
The man plunged several feet to the ground below on Wednesday, from the fourth spiral of the Grainges car park, Uxbridge.
Several onlookers were witness to the tragedy, and an air ambulance was called to the scene, which took him to the Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel.
It was initially thought that he had survived the fall, but it has now emerged that the man died in hospital of his injuries.
He has been taken to Poplar Mortuary in East London, where a post-mortem will be carried out.
The identity of the man has not yet been confirmed, but it is believed he was wearing a wedding ring, and was aged in his late 30s.
Im writing to give my complete support to the family of the man that jumped off of the car park.. I seriously think something needs to be done about this car park as this has happened quite a few times now. Something needs to be out up to prevent this from happening again!
