Help raise cash for Zambia eye clinic

THERE is an opportunity to raise money for Africa by recycling old pairs of glasses in Uxbridge this weekend.

Opticians are calling for the support of people in Uxbridge to help raise £250,000 to build Zambia's first eye clinic.

Specsavers in the Pavilions shopping centre will contribute 10% of its takings on Sunday, October 5 towards the company's pledge.

They are also calling on customers to make donations or to recycle their pairs of unwanted specs.
Michael Wong, store director, said: "Staff at the store are really excited to be part of Specasvers fundraising Sunday.

"It is such a worthwhile cause and one that will provide a long-term solution to the people of Zambia.

"We are asking everyone in Uxbridge to support us and call into the store to make a donation.

"We are also making a plea for people to assist with out specs recycling initiative, so would encourage everyone bring in their old unwanted glasses so that they can be sent to Zambia where they will, quite literally, give the gift of sight."

We'd like to hear from you.
